CASTE BASED DISCRIMINATION PREVENTION CELL

Government of India, Ministry of HRD, Department of Higher Education, New Delhi and University Grants Commission are continuously monitoring the prevention of caste based discrimination in Higher Educational institutions. The college ensures that no official / faculty members/ students indulge in any kind of discrimination against any community or category of students. CASTE BASED DISCRIMINATION PREVENTION CELL (CBDPC) is constituted in the college to prevent and solve issues of caste-based discrimination. The cell aims to ensure that all students are treated as equal and attempts to ensure equity and equal opportunity to the students as a whole and bring in social inclusion. It helps to create a congenial atmosphere in the campus and for the growth of healthy interpersonal relationship among the students coming from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds. It seeks to sensitize the college on the problems of less privileged students and ensures that no student is left behind the teaching process. CBDPC aims to ensure that no student is discriminated in the name of caste and provides a platform to address their grievances frankly and thus to mitigate the diversity in the campus.
Functions of the cell

• Encouraging the SC/ST students to express their grievances frankly without any fear of being victimised
• to ensure that the grievances are registered and acknowledged promptly
• to enquire into the grievances and make recommendations
• to ensure prompt redressal of grievances.
• To deal with every grievance in a fair manner
• To recommend appropriate action if complaint is found to be valid.

The cell comprises of the Principal of the college as the chairperson and senior faculties as members. If students belonging to SC/ST category have any complaints, they can lodge the complaints to the Tutor in charge, HOD’s or any member of CBDPC through the form given below.

GENDER JUSTICE FORUM

Govt. of Kerala has introduced a forum for gender justice in higher education institutions as per the govt. order 973/2021 H.edn dept. dated 29.07.2021.  TKMM College Nangiarkulangara has constituted the forum strictly following the structure of gender justice forum as per the rules on 04.08.2021.

INTERNAL COMMITTEE FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED (DIVYANGJAN)

The college encourages the students to be are aware of the problems of the disadvantaged sections of society in their engagement with people from varied social milieu. Since TKMM college believes in respecting and promoting the rights and dignity of each individual, the inclusion of people with disabilities is a primary focus of the college. TKMM strives to be a disabled-friendly in all its aspects and works to be an institution that is chosen by people with disabilities for its suitable infrastructure, facilities of support and sensitised atmosphere that can help them grow and achieve their dreams. TKMM College ensures strict implementation of admission policies for people with disabilities in accordance with the updated guidelines for admission of the UGC.
DISABLED-FRIENDLY INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES
TKMM College takes pride in its disabled-friendly campus and offers the following facilities to make the campus more accessible.

• Ramps: TKMM College campus is well connected with wheel-chair friendly pathways and ramps with railings. The ramps provide easy access to important places on the campus like the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), canteen, academic building, library and common room, sports field, amongst others.
• Wheelchair-friendly washrooms: TKMM has spacious and wheelchair-friendly washrooms on all the floors.
• Wheelchair: TKMM has a wheelchair available that can be used by students and visitors with disabilities as per requirement.

AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Post Metric Scholarships for Students with Disabilities (PMSD)
The Scholarship provides financial assistance to the parents of students with disabilities for studying in post-matric level. The financial assistance includes scholarship, book grant, escort/reader allowance, etc. Selection of the beneficiaries under these two scholarship schemes is on the basis of merit. DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE

Maintaining discipline and order is imperative to create a healthy work environment which is conducive for the smooth and effective functioning of an educational institution. With this in mind the College has constituted an Internal Discipline Committee which plays a role in maintaining overall discipline and decorum on campus. It also attempts to resolve individual cases/complaints in this regard, as and when required.

INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE

In compliance with the instructions of National Commission for women and guidelines issued in implementation of the directives of Hon'ble Supreme Court Judgement dated 13th August, 1997 in the case of Visakha and others vs. State of Rajasthan and Others on the subject of sexual harassment of women in the workplace, the college had duly constituted an Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) for considering complaints of sexual harassment of women working in the college.
